Starting and Stopping

I start, and then I stop.

I have to confess that getting into writing my next book has been fraught with obstacles.

First, what I thought was going to be my next book ended up living a quiet life on my hard drive because it just wasn't working. Perhaps I'll get back to it one day.

Then Surfer Boy and I went to Maui for three glorious weeks and who wants to write when you could be surfing in warm, crystal clear water?

Then I had a stem cell treatment on my left knee.

Now I'm in intensive physical therapy.

What's all this got to do with creating art?

I've found that writing is a discipline. I kind of lost that discipline through all of the above.

I start, and then I stop.

So today I went to the National Novel Writing Month website and registered my work in progress.

The goal of Nanowrimo is to write a novel in November.

Yep, 50,000 words in 30 days.

I appreciate everyone being patient with me because we writers tend to think that the entire world is looking at us and they're not!

Besides, there's a place for goofing off in life, right?
