Day Twenty

Day Twenty and I reached my goal.

I've got the first draft of my next book. Yay!

This past twenty days was all about National Novel Writing Month which is a high octane, pedal to the medal, no holds barred butt in chair, hands on keyboard extravaganza.

The goal is to write the first draft of 50,000 words in thirty days.

My goal was to finish on the airplane on the way to Florida by the 20th, and I did it!

I love first drafts because they challenge me to ignore my inner editor and write a bunch of words.

And yes, sometimes that means crappy words.

I heard someone once say that "write crap" was the best writing advice they ever received.

Sounds weird, right?

The truth is that if you don't allow yourself to let loose, you'll fall prey to that thing called perfectionism which is really just fear in high heels.

Now we celebrate.
