Can I Get a Hallelujah?
Being a writer is a pursuit fraught with insecurity.
I've spent the past year--yes, let's call it what it is--writing one book that didn't see the light of day because my beta readers said it was too dark, and then starting over with a totally new story and spending another six months to get to where we are today.
The book went to beta readers on Saturday and I've spent the entire time waiting, wondering, wishing, hoping, praying, even performing a rain dance or two.
This morning I received a text from my editor who is tough as nails.
She likes it!
Now I wish I could tell you that I'm not that fragile, that my feelings don't get hurt when readers dont't like my work, that my happiness was not dependent on things going my way.
But alas, it's not true.
I LOVE when y'all love my stories.
As for my happiness being dependent on things going my way ...
I'm working on it. Because I think we all know things don't always go our way.
And life is good anyhow.
And getting better all the time.
So I'll just end this post by throwing my hands in the air and yelling, "Hallelujah!"
