Pet Sematary

Once upon a time, I was a teenager who loved horror movies.

As I grew older (and more boring), I thought I was past all that.

What kind of grown woman watches horror movies, eats popcorn and Butterfinger bites, crouches down in a theatre seat and screams?

As I started thinking about life--that tends to happen when you celebrate the big birthdays ending in zero--I realized that I'm cutting myself off from some of life's great experiences.

Wouldn't it be great to wake up in the morning and say, "I'm going to enjoy the beauty of the moment. All of it. Not just the parts that I label as 'good.'"

All of it.

The good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between.

Pet Sematary is a novel written by Stephen King in the late 70s.

I read the book when it first came out because I'm not ashamed to admit that I think Stephen King is one helluva fantastic storyteller.

The book is creepy but in an odd way, also funny.

Or maybe that's just my warped sense of humor.

Come on guys, it's a story about a pet cemetery where things are buried and they ... well, they come back.

A bit different maybe, but they come back.

So when I discovered that the movie version had been re-told and released this month, I grabbed my daughters and step grandkids and said, "Let's go!"

I don't get enough time with my step grandkids (who are, by the way, totally awesome teenagers) and they were thrilled.

We picked yesterday which happened to be Easter and saw the movie.

It is, after all, a story about resurrection.

And I'm here to tell you guys ...

It was freaking fantastic!

If you do happen to go see it, let me know what you thought of the ending because I pumped my fist and screamed, "Yes!" at the ending.
