Storytellers
The Seanchai ( pronounced ‘shawnakee’) was a traditional Irish storyteller. They memorized and recited epic stories and poems from Irish mythology for the enjoyment of their audiences. You have to remember, in those days, there were no movies, tv, radio, computer games. Few had access to books or could read.
They normally served a clan chieftain, keeping all their clan’s lore and history, and were highly respected.

I absolutely love this!
I'm not Irish (as far as I know.)
I'm a mere surfer girl who likes weaving a tale.
When I heard about the Seanchai, I did what most surfer girl storytellers do.
I jumped up from my desk and performed a happy dance.
It goes to show what I've always suspected.
Storytellers are powerful and every day I feel amazingly lucky to be part of the clan.
