Subplot Quandries
Today I spent much of my writing time agonizing over whether a certain subplot should go one way or another.
Do I keep my character's job interview scene as a group interview or do I change it to a personal interview?
If I change it to a personal interview that means I get to go back and change all the previous chapters leading up to this point to reflect this.
If I keep it as is (first thoughts best thoughts) I'll still have to put a band-aid on certain other aspects of the story.
In case you're wondering--and I know this is keeping you up at night--I decided to change the scene to a personal interview.
If you're nodding off right about now I implore you to answer this question:
Can you imagine anything else as exciting in life as thinking about your story while you are: washing dishes, brushing your teeth, exercising, grocery shopping, folding laundry, driving or trying to sleep?
See! Told you the life of a writer was exciting.
P.S. - First thoughts are rarely best thoughts.
