Are we really going to talk about the weather?

We are!

Today as I happily worked on my story, rain pounding on the skylight, my iPhone blared the ear-splitting whoop, whoop, whoop of a government emergency alert.

Concerned, I read the dire announcement:

Flash flood warning!

Severe flooding!

The park at Main Beach under water!

Stay indoors!

Yes, they really did use that many exclamation points.

Was I worried?

Nope, cuz I grew up in Miami where we're not afraid of a little rain.

We needed to go to the market for dinner supplies and Surfer Boy said, "We can't go out in this!"

To which I replied, "How many times have you been to Florida?"

"Lots."

We got into our vehicle and wouldn't you know it, the skies parted, the sun shone and the park at Main Beach was not underwater.

So what's for dinner?

Chili with a side of hail.
