Polar Vortex
This morning I woke up in a freezing fetal position.
Okay, I know Y'all are going to laugh at me because poor widdle biddy baby had to deal with thirty-nine-degree weather.
So here's the deal.
I grew up in Florida (land of the blazing sun) and now live in So. Cal (land of the always-70-degree weather.)
Our tiny loft bedroom is adorable because it overlooks the ocean.
But.
It was built as an afterthought by the previous owners and it has zero insulation.
Last night started out innocently enough.
"It's supposed to be cold tonight," Surfer Boy said. "Down to thirty-nine."
"No probs. I love sleeping in a cool room. Got my extra blankie and everything."
He raised his eyebrows because he knows I'm the princess and the pea. "Suit yourself."
"Besides," I continued, "You're a hot body."
Only problem is, my hot body husband couldn't sleep and jumped out bed at four o'clock.
Around four-thirty I woke up, teeth chattering and said, "Where's Florida?!!!!"
I can hear you all right now and your refrain goes something like this:
CRY ME A RIVER!!!

Hahaha!! I hear your teeth chattering from here in North Dakota! I have lived part-time in Florida since I got married. Since I taught, I had summer and Christmas vacations in Florida. I actually prefer summers there, too, because I love heat...no such thing as too much heat! We returned to Fargo this year on January 19th when the temp. was 73 in Delray Beach. It was getting cooler because every morning we were there it was at least 70-75 degrees. In North Dakota, it was -28 and, with wind chill, it was -45. It is "only" ONE BELOW ZERO as I write. Ewwwww…. Back to Florida it is with me! We are looking for a house because our condo is pet Unfriendly and I won't live my life without my beagle. So that's my story and I'm sticking with it! By the way, I got Grand Theft Auto and Other Misdemeanors this afternoon. You had told me once before that you grew up in Florida and this sounds like a perfect reminiscence. By the way, have you warmed up from your "chattering experience?" I see this has me posted as FL girl. I have no idea where that comes from but I'm a girl and I'm from Florida! I guess that's okay!
